HRI are recruiting for two new intern posts a press and communications
intern and a conference organisation intern for the Harm Reduction
Conference 2013 taking place in Vilnius, Lithuania. Please find further

*In the lead up to the 2013 International Harm Reduction Conference, Harm
Reduction International is recruiting two interns to assist in the final
stages of preparation of the event.*
* *
*These two positions will play an important role in assisting the
conference and media teams in promoting the event and providing logistical
support. *
* *
*The internships are unpaid, but both interns will be invited to attend the
conference in Vilnius. Harm Reduction International will cover travel,
conference registration, accommodation and per diem expenses. Duties
relating to the internships will also be undertaken at the event.*
* *
*This is excellent opportunity to gain work experience on a major
international event and to attend the event itself.*
*An immediate start is required, and the deadline for applications is
Wednesday 27th March.*

*Interns will be based at HRI's London Office.

be willing to travel to Vilnius, Lithuania from 7-12 June to assist with

*Press and Communications Intern (Immediate start, 5 days per week)*****
*Overview: *To assist HRI’s media consultant in building press lists for
use during the conference and promoting the event with journalists; and to
assist the conference team with promoting the event on social media****
*Duration: *(Start date asap) to 14th June 2013****
*Key tasks:*****
- Building press lists/databases****
- Outreach to media****
- Website, twitter, facebook updating****
- Producing conference email updates****
- Assistance to the conference team as needed during the event****
*Person specification:*****
- Experience with Excel (essential) and Mail Chimp (preferable)****
- Experience of and ability to use various social media platforms****
- Outgoing - able to make calls to media outlets and track down correct
journalist/editor/producer to add to database when needed****
- Knowledge of and commitment to harm reduction, ability to explain key
concepts****
- Ability to work in a language other than English desirable****
*Reports to: *Media consultant and conference manager****

*Conference Organisation Intern (Immediate start, 5 days per week)*****
*Overview: *To assist the conference organising team with specific
logistical and administrative tasks involved in finalising the
international harm reduction conference; to assist with scholarship
applications****
*Duration:* (Start date asap) to 14th June 2013****
*Key tasks:*****
- Assist with various conference related enquiries and respond promptly
to these enquiries****
- Support coordination of various scholarship applicants prior and at
the annual event in June 2013****
- Assist in coordinating all materials and preparations for the
conference volunteers and their contribution to the event****
- Assist in coordinating other programmatic activities (e.g. the
workshops and the dialogue space)****
- Assist with various conference promotion on the lead up to the event***

- Assistance to the conference team as needed during the event****
- Other administrative and logistical tasks as directed by the
conference team****

- Excellent organisational and administrative skills****
- Proficient with Microsoft office applications****
- Able to handle queries in a polite and professional manner****
- Ability to work in a language other than English (desirable) ****

The internships are unpaid. However, each intern will be invited to attend
the international harm reduction conference in Vilnius, with travel,
accommodation, conference badge and per diem expenses paid. It is expected
that the interns will assist with various tasks at the conference but will
be free also to attend sessions and take part as a conference delegate.****
